Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Effective October 18, 2026

Some state laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act, give you specific rights over "consumer health data": information that identifies you and says something about your health. This page explains how Dose (the iPhone app and doselog.dev, made by Emerson, a student working independently) handles it. It adds to the Privacy Policy.

In the iPhone app: kept on your iPhone, never sent to me

What: glucose readings, insulin doses, medications you mark as taken, meals and carbs, notes, your target range and safety settings, and blood glucose read from Apple Health if you turn that on.

Why: to show your log, history and charts, and the reminders you choose.

Where: only on your iPhone. I don't receive it, and the app doesn't send it anywhere. You're asked to agree before the app stores it, and you can withdraw that consent in Settings › Account & Privacy, which deletes it.

On this website: one optional answer, only with your permission

What: when you join the beta you can answer "I'm…" with "living with diabetes", "a parent", "a clinician" or "other". The first two can say something about your health or your family's, so I treat that answer as consumer health data.

Consent: the answer is kept only if you tick the separate box that allows it. If you don't, only your email is kept. Joining the beta doesn't depend on answering.

Why: to invite a mix of people to the beta and to know who the short survey is going to.

Where and who: stored with your signup in Cloudflare, which hosts this website and stores it on my behalf. It isn't shared with anyone else, used for advertising or sold.

How long: until you ask me to delete it, and no later than when the beta ends (at the latest December 31, 2027).

Your rights

  • Confirm and access: ask whether I hold health data about you and get a copy.
  • Delete: ask me to delete it.
  • Withdraw consent: at any time, for the future.
  • No discrimination: using these rights won't affect whether you can join the beta.

Email dose.app26@gmail.com. I'll reply within 45 days. If I can't do what you ask, I'll explain why, and you can reply to appeal; I'll answer the appeal within 45 days too. For data in the app, you can do all of this yourself in Settings › Account & Privacy.

I never sell consumer health data.
