Dose Join the beta

Diabetes is confusing at first. Your log shouldn't be.

Dose is a simple, private diabetes log for iPhone, for type 1 and type 2. Log glucose, insulin or the other medicines you take, meals and carbs in a few taps.

It's made for people who keep track by hand, especially in the first months. About 8,000 foods are built in. Glucose can come in from Apple Health, or you can type it in. Everything stays on your phone.

Free TestFlight beta for iPhone, planned for mid-to-late November 2026. For type 1 and type 2, ages 13 and up.

The Dose Today screen: a glucose reading of 112 mg/dL marked in range, with today's insulin, carbs and readings.

Why Dose?

A log that stays on your phone and is honest about your numbers.

Private by default.

No account on a server, no ads, no analytics, no third-party code. I can't see your readings, so I can't lose them or sell them. Download or delete everything whenever you like.

Glucose from Apple Health.

If your sensor's app saves readings to Apple Health, they show up in Dose automatically. Readings appear as your sensor app shares them with Apple Health. The sync happens on your phone, and readings are never sent to a server.

Honest carb totals.

When a food is missing data, Dose says so and shows “at least” instead of a made-up number. About 8,000 foods work offline.

≥ 15 g carbs (at least)

With or without insulin.

Managing type 2 with tablets? Turn off insulin in Settings and mark your medicines as taken instead. Everything insulin-related is hidden, and nothing is deleted.

Simple to use. Careful with the details.

One Log button. Four choices. Everything you logged today on one screen.

The Dose Log Meal screen with bananas, peanut butter and milk adding up to 77 g of carbs.
Meals add up as you go. Search USDA's food list, even without a signal. Add half a serving or one and a quarter.
The Dose Confirm Dose screen asking you to check an amount of 4 units of rapid-acting insulin before saving.
You check each dose before it's saved. Dose records the insulin you took. It never tells you how much to take.
The Dose History screen showing glucose readings over time.
Your history by day, week or month, with your readings in range.

Made for you, and for the people who help.

If you live with diabetes

  • Log in seconds: glucose in mg/dL, rapid- or long-acting insulin, meals and carbs.
  • Not on insulin? Turn it off and log the tablets or other medicines you take instead.
  • Bring in glucose from Apple Health automatically, if your sensor's app saves readings there. Using a meter? Type the reading in.
  • See your history by day, week or month, with your readings in range.
  • Lock it with Face ID, and keep reminders private: they don't say “insulin” unless you choose that.
  • It never tells you how much insulin to take. A low reading says to follow your care plan.

If you're a parent of a teen

  • Teens 13 to 17 can use it, with a plain-language summary when they sign up.
  • A parent confirms the big changes, like target range, exporting data or deleting it.
  • No birthday is stored. Just the age group.
  • Your family's data stays on your teen's iPhone, never on a server. That also means you can't see it from your own phone; it's private by design.

Why I'm building it

Dose doesn't do the insulin math, on purpose. That stays with your care team. Dose makes the keeping-track part simple, so there's one less thing to worry about.

“The first weeks after a type 1 diagnosis are a lot. You come home with a meter, a logbook and a page of numbers. Every meal becomes a math problem: check your glucose, count the carbs, work out the insulin from your care team's numbers, then write it all down and hope you got it right. I watched someone I love learn all of this from scratch. Dose is the calm, simple log I wish we'd had on day one, so you can spend less time keeping track and more time living.”

How the beta works

It's free, and it takes about a minute to join.

  1. Join the list

Leave your email below. That's all I ask for. Nothing about your health.

  2. Get your invite

When the beta opens, planned for mid-to-late November, I'll email you a link to install it through Apple's TestFlight app.

  3. Tell me what you think

Use it for a week, then answer 5 short questions. What's confusing? What's missing?

Questions

Something else? Email dose.app26@gmail.com.

Is it free?

Yes. The beta is free, and logging will stay free. I may add an optional paid plan later for extras like backups and reports for your doctor.

Does it tell me how much insulin to take?

No, and it never will without proper medical approval. It's a log. Decide doses with your care team and follow their plan.

Where is my data kept?

Only on your iPhone, protected by iOS encryption and, if you like, Face ID. It isn't sent to me or anyone else. You can download a copy or delete everything in Settings.

Does it work with my glucose sensor?

Dose can import glucose readings from Apple Health, so if your sensor's app saves readings there, they show up in Dose automatically. Turn on “Read glucose from Apple Health” in Dose's Settings. Readings appear as your sensor app shares them with Apple Health, and some apps add a delay. The sync happens on your iPhone, Dose only reads, and readings are never sent to a server. Using a meter? You can type readings in yourself.

When does the beta start?

I'm aiming for mid-to-late November 2026. That's a target, not a fixed date. The beta runs through Apple's TestFlight app; Dose isn't on the App Store yet.

I have type 2 and don't take insulin. Is it for me?

Yes. Turn off "I take insulin" in Settings, and you can mark the tablets or other medicines you take each day alongside your glucose, meals and carbs. Dose only keeps a note of what you took; follow your care plan for what to take and when.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Because your log stays only on your iPhone, it can't be recovered from anywhere else if the phone is lost or the app is deleted. Download a copy from Settings › Account & Privacy now and then, and keep it somewhere safe.

My meter shows mmol/L. Can I use it?

Not yet. The beta uses mg/dL, as most US meters do.

Is there an Android version?

Not right now. The beta is for iPhone only.

Who can join?

Anyone 13 or older in the United States with an iPhone. If you're under 18, please join with a parent or guardian.

Be one of the first to try it.

I'm looking for people who keep track by hand: newly diagnosed, type 1 or type 2, with or without insulin, and parents of teens who log.

I'll use your email address only to send the beta invite and one short survey, and I'll delete it whenever you ask. It's kept in a private list on Cloudflare, which hosts this site. Please don't send me any other health information. Privacy Policy
